Student Beep Card Available Na!

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the official launch of student Beep cards that will automatically grant a 50% fare discount to student passengers taking the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1, LRT-2 and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 during his visit to the LRT-2 Legarda Station in Sampaloc, City of Manila on September 20, 2025.

The President, along with Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Hernando Cabrera, inspects the Beep Card encoding area where the registration and application for student Beep cards are ongoing.

“Cubao to Recto is 25 pesos na normal. Para sa estudyante 12.50 na lang. Kaya’t napakalaking tulong niyan dahil alam naman natin, students are on a very, very tight budget. That’s why we are very happy to be able to launch this new, this new system to give the Beep card to our students,” President Marcos Jr. states in his remarks.

He highlights the simpler and faster process implemented by the DOTr and LRTA in applying for and issuing Beep cards, fulfilling his directive to ease the financial burden of Filipinos by making public transportation more affordable and accessible to everyone, especially students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“This is our, our, patuloy na pagmodernize natin sa ating sistema ng transportasyon para naman ang ating mga, hindi lamang estudyante, mga manggagawa, lahat ng sumasakay ng tren, lahat ng sumasakay ng public, public transport ay maging mas magaang naman. Dahil napakahirap kung minsan ang dinadaanan bago makasakay, bago makarating dun sa kanilang pupuntahan,” President Marcos Jr. continues.

Today also marks the pilot implementation of on-the-spot printing for all concessionary Beep cards, saving each commuter (students, senior citizens and PWDs) about 10 to 20 minutes in line at ticket counters.

The student Beep cards have a one-year availability, which can be renewed or reactivated every school year.
