The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is asking Congress to restore its proposed P12.8-billion budget for new train sets for Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2).
“The P12.8 billion was included in the DOTr’s proposed National Expenditure Program (NEP) for 2027, but it was excluded when the proposal reached Congress. We are appealing for its reconsideration,” Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) administrator Hernando Cabrera said.
The government plans to acquire about 15 trainsets for LRT-2, he said.
